Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Stealing Women’s Underwear

Date:

A foreign man was arrested after he was suspected of stealing women’s underwear that had been hung outside a house in Kampung Haji Matahir, Tawau.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, allegedly carried out the act earlier this month after a victim noticed several pieces of his wife’s clothing had gone missing from the clothesline.

Acting Tawau District Police Chief Superintendent Wilynton Enchana Watt said the 47-year-old victim lodged a police report at Bombalai Police Station following the incident.

He said police then conducted intelligence gathering and investigations before successfully arresting the suspect at about 10.30pm on Tuesday.

“During initial questioning, the suspect revealed the location of the suspected stolen items, leading police to discover and seize several items believed to be linked to the case from his house and a nearby bush area.

“The seized items included several pieces of women’s underwear, along with a green shirt and a black songkok believed to have been worn by the suspect during the incident,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Wilynton said the suspect, who did not possess any identification documents, is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

He also advised the public to remain vigilant and strengthen security measures around their homes.

“Members of the public are encouraged to immediately provide information to the police if they notice any suspicious activities to assist efforts in preventing crime,” he said.
