Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to rally behind Ahmad Nor Iman Aliff Rakib, who is set to compete for the ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship on Friday.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Anwar said Aliff Rakib is on the verge of making history as the first Malaysian combat sports athlete to fight for the prestigious ONE Championship interim Muay Thai world title.
“Let’s all give our full support to Ahmad Nor Iman Aliff Rakib as he prepares to challenge for the ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship this Friday.
“I wish him every success in continuing to raise Malaysia’s name on the world stage and inspire the younger generation to achieve greatness,” he wrote.
Aliff Rakib will face Thai Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in the championship bout, which will take place at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
