A man and a woman were found dead with stab wounds last night in Taman Nona, in what police suspect to be a murder case.
Yan District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hamizi Abdullah said authorities received information about the incident at 9:40 p.m. The male victim, aged 30, was discovered on the road in the residential area with multiple stab wounds, while the 28-year-old woman was found in a Proton Wira parked in front of a house.
“We believe the stab wounds were inflicted with a sharp object,” he said.
Police are currently investigating the deaths, but no arrests have been made so far. Authorities are also looking into the relationship between the two victims. The man is believed to be from Yan, while the woman is from Sungai Petani.
“We are still trying to determine where they were heading at the time and the motive behind the incident. The investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” Mohd Hamizi added.
The victims’ bodies were sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem examinations and further investigation.
