Tom Holland is hitting a major milestone—nearly three and a half years sober. The Spider-Man star, 29, opened up about his journey in a September 9 interview with Esquire, calling the experience “amazing” and likening it to a “brand-new identity.”
Sobriety isn’t the only win—Tom’s non-alcoholic beer company, Bero, is thriving. “Every day we’re making big steps in the right direction,” he shared, teasing exciting new products coming this winter and next summer.
Tom’s sobriety journey started in 2022 with Dry January, initially meant as a one-month challenge. But he quickly realized alcohol had become a bigger issue in his life. “Every Friday after work was a write-off… I would drink enough so that I would ruin my next day,” he admitted.
The wake-up call? Asking his younger brother to drive him home from a party because he felt he needed alcohol to enjoy himself. With support from family, friends, and even strangers in sobriety, Tom has stayed strong—without rehab.
He also reflected on how sobriety has improved his mental clarity and overall health. “I could sleep better, handle problems better, take things in stride. I felt healthier, fitter,” he said.
Even on challenging sets, like filming Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room in 2022, Tom resisted temptation. “There was a lot of arguing and butting heads. I thought, ‘If I start drinking again now, it’s gonna get worse.’ ”
Tom Holland’s journey shows that sobriety isn’t just about giving up alcohol—it’s about reclaiming your life, and he’s clearly thriving both personally and professionally.
