A 55-year-old man has been accused of killing his teenage son with a sharp weapon during a heated quarrel over massive online business losses on Friday.
Police said the victim, identified as 17-year-old Somyank Jaiswal, was allegedly murdered by his father, Sushil Jaiswal, in their home village of Bargaon, Jharkhand. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of West Bokaro police station in Ramgarh district, about 30 kilometers from the district headquarters.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Parmeshwar Prasad, the dispute stemmed from Somyank’s failed online business venture, which suffered losses of around Rs 30 lakh (RM142,908). To cover the debt, Sushil was forced to sell his heavy vehicle, a move that reportedly triggered escalating arguments between father and son.
“On Friday morning, a fierce argument broke out, leading to a violent confrontation where household items were used as weapons before the father fatally attacked his son,” said West Bokaro police officer Deepak Kumar Singh.
Sushil also sustained injuries during the altercation and has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi for treatment.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances behind the tragedy.
