Teen Sentenced To Three Years At Henry Gurney School Over Rape Case

Date:

A Form Four student accused of raping a female acquaintance has been ordered to undergo three years at the Henry Gurney School by the Magistrates’ Court here today.

The order was issued by Magistrate Mustaqim Sukarno against the 16-year-old after the court accepted his guilty plea and considered the moral report submitted by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

The teenager faced three charges of allegedly raping a 15-year-old female student in the district between 5pm and 10pm on Dec 31 last year, March 22 and May 17.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

Based on the facts of the case, the victim lodged a police report after claiming the accused had taken her to his house before committing the offence.

The victim alleged that the teenager had raped her on three separate occasions, with investigations revealing that he had taken her around Senggarang before bringing her into his home through the back entrance to avoid being noticed by family members.

Following information gathered during the investigation, police arrested the teenager at his residence.

For juvenile offenders, the court may impose various forms of punishment, including a good behaviour bond, fines or placement at the Henry Gurney School.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shazleen Ibrahim led the prosecution, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
