Lorry Parking Area Turned Into Duty-Unpaid Liquor Storage Site, RM300,000 Seized

Date:

A suspected illegal liquor storage and transportation operation was uncovered during a police raid at a lorry parking area in Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat, on Wednesday.

Marine Police Force (PPM) Region One commander ACP Jaffri Bidin said the operation, carried out at about 6.30pm, resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old local man believed to be guarding the premises.

He said the suspect failed to produce any valid documents for the alcoholic beverages stored at the location during the inspection.

Further checks found five lorries parked in the area, but only two were loaded with various types of suspected duty-unpaid alcoholic beverages in their rear cargo compartments.

Jaffri said the total value of the seized liquor and the two lorries involved was estimated at RM316,205.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 as well as the Local Government Act 1976.

He added that the suspect and all seized items have been handed over to the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters investigating officer for further action.

The latest seizure reflects ongoing enforcement efforts against the illegal storage and distribution of duty-unpaid goods, with authorities continuing to tighten operations against smuggling activities.
