Three Malaysian women were detained in Indonesia after authorities discovered suspected drugs hidden inside their luggage, clothing and footwear at an airport.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 39, were arrested after arriving at Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta from Kota Kinabalu recently.
Initial inspections found the women had allegedly concealed the substances in various places, including a toiletries bag inside their luggage, a wallet, medicine packets, jacket pockets and shoes.
Further checks led authorities to seize several substances believed to be cocaine, ecstasy pills and ketamine powder.
A customs official said the suspected cocaine was found in several packets weighing 0.5 grams, 0.3 grams, 2 grams and 1.4 grams respectively.
Authorities also seized suspected ecstasy pills weighing 4.2 grams and 2.4 grams, along with 1.8 grams of suspected ketamine powder.
In addition, 16.9 grams of rolled tobacco believed to have been mixed with ketamine, as well as one cartridge suspected of containing the same substance, were also confiscated.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said Indonesian police had informed their Malaysian counterparts regarding the arrests.
He said the small amount of drugs seized was believed to be intended for personal use and the case was not linked to a recent investigation involving the arrest of a Malaysian pilot and another Malaysian man in Indonesia.
Further investigations into the case are ongoing.
