A family outing ended in tragedy after a 39-year-old man died when the car he was travelling in plunged into a drain at Kampung Pulau Juar, Kampung Gajah, Perak, last night.
The accident, involving a Proton Wira carrying six family members, was reported to the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) at about 10.52pm.
Perak JBPM Operations Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the victims comprised an adult man, an adult woman, three boys and a girl.
“An adult woman and four children were rescued by members of the public before firefighters arrived. The adult male, however, was found unconscious in the driver’s seat,” he said.
The victim was identified as Mohd Khirzee Musa, 39. Firefighters subsequently carried out a rescue operation after conducting an initial assessment of the scene.
Sabarodzi said rescuers used a stretcher to remove the victim from the vehicle before handing him over to Health Ministry personnel for treatment.
Medical personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene, but the man was later pronounced dead.
His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action, while the circumstances surrounding the crash are expected to be investigated.
