Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Lorry At Roundabout

A 20-year-old motorcyclist died after his motorcycle collided with a moving lorry at the Jalan Setia Raja roundabout in Kuching on Friday morning.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the crash occurred at about 6.20am, with initial investigations indicating that the lorry was travelling from Muara Tabuan towards Bau.

He said the accident happened when the lorry entered the roundabout near OneTJ. While it was moving through the roundabout, the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the lorry.

“The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to the hip and was taken to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

“However, he was pronounced dead at about 10.31am,” he said in a statement.

The fatal crash is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing the death of another person by driving a motor vehicle on a road recklessly or dangerously.

Police are now appealing to members of the public who witnessed the incident or have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
