Man Fined RM1,900 For Damaging House Grille In Putatan

Date:

A 46-year-old man was fined RM1,900, or two months in prison in default, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for damaging the grille door of a house in Putatan.

Giffry Sudirman pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to damaging the grille door of Azalina Mohd Yamen’s home at PPR Sri Serigai, Putatan, at around 1.15pm on August 6.

He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which provides for a minimum one-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The court heard that Azalina was at home when she heard the grille being shaken and struck with what was believed to be an iron rod.

Several minutes later, she opened the door but found no one outside. She then inspected the grille and discovered that one of its bars had been damaged.

CCTV footage from a neighbour’s residence reportedly showed an unidentified man hitting the grille with an iron rod.

Based on information provided by neighbours, the man was identified as Giffry, who lives on the floor below Azalina’s unit.

The court was also informed that the cost of repairing the damaged grille was estimated at RM120.

In a separate case, a 30-year-old man was fined RM100, or three days in jail in default, for failing to provide a reasonable explanation for RM1,000 deposited into his bank account.

Roslansah Ramil admitted to having RM1,000 belonging to Chung Lee Fub, also known as Margaret, which was credited into his Affin Bank account on April 21, 2025.

He was unable to provide a reasonable explanation as to how he came into possession of the money.

Roslansah was charged under Section 22A(1) of the Sabah Minor Offences Ordinance, which carries a maximum fine of RM100, imprisonment of up to three months, or both upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Hafizah Anggu appeared for the prosecution.
