Two elderly individuals suffered minor injuries after a tree fell onto a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Chamang, Bentong, on Friday.
The incident occurred at about 2.15pm and involved a 60-year-old local man and a 62-year-old local woman who were inside the vehicle when the tree came crashing down.
Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said both victims sustained light injuries in the incident.
“Following information received, police and rescue personnel went to the location to carry out rescue operations and take further action,” he said in a statement on Friday.
The victims were subsequently taken to Bentong Hospital for medical treatment.
The incident highlights the danger posed by trees in areas where heavy rain, strong winds or unstable ground conditions may increase the risk of sudden falls.
Zaiham urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid approaching or staying near areas where there is a risk of falling trees.
He also advised members of the public to immediately report fallen trees or trees believed to pose a danger to the relevant authorities so that appropriate action can be taken.
