A major Wildberries logistics warehouse south of Moscow was engulfed in flames following an overnight drone attack that Russian authorities said involved hundreds of Ukrainian drones.
Footage circulating on Telegram showed a large blaze at the Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, in the Podolsk district, around 25 miles south of the Kremlin. Thick black smoke could be seen rising above the area as the fire spread through the facility.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed the capital region came under attack from at least 600 Ukrainian drones overnight. He said Russian air defence systems managed to destroy 201 of the drones, although the Wildberries facility was still hit.
A second Wildberries warehouse in North Domodedovo was also reportedly engulfed by flames. The location is situated close to one of Moscow’s major international airports.
Wildberries is one of Russia’s largest online marketplaces, and the attack on its logistics infrastructure could disrupt the movement of goods and supplies. Ukrainian attacks have reportedly targeted 16 Wildberries facilities so far.
The strikes are believed to be aimed at disrupting logistics networks and making it more difficult to obtain and transport equipment, supplies and other materials linked to Russia’s military effort.
Wildberries has previously featured a category on its website titled “Everything for the Special Military Operation”, which offered products including drones, FPV drone reels, body armour and other military-related equipment.
The latest strikes come amid continuing Ukrainian efforts to target infrastructure inside Russia as the war enters another phase of intensified long-range drone attacks.
Separately, a NATO fighter jet was scrambled in Romania after a drone entered Alliance airspace during a Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine.
