Genting Highlands Goldsmith Robbery: Police Hunt Three Suspects After Axe, Crowbar Raid

Pahang police have confirmed that a robbery took place at a shopping centre in Genting Highlands, Bentong, on Monday.

Acting Pahang Police Chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the incident was believed to have occurred around noon, with police currently gathering information to establish the full circumstances of the case.

“We are still collecting the facts of the case. Any further developments will be shared,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

Earlier, videos and photographs circulated widely on social media, appearing to show several individuals fleeing from a shopping complex after allegedly robbing a goldsmith.

Azry Akmar said preliminary investigations indicated that three suspects were believed to have been involved in the incident, which occurred at around 11.40am.

He said the suspects were believed to have been armed with an axe and a crowbar.

“Following the incident, police launched Op Tutup at around noon,” he said.

The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters together with the Bentong District Police Headquarters.

Police are also working to determine the number of employees who were inside the premises when the robbery occurred.

Several individuals have had their statements recorded as part of the investigation, while police continue efforts to track down the suspects.

Members of the public with information have been urged to contact or approach the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.

The incident also sparked attention online, with footage showing individuals dressed in black and wearing caps running through the shopping complex. Members of the public also reported seeing police roadblocks in the area following the robbery.
