A male tourist suffered injuries after reportedly slipping while climbing at the top of a wild waterfall in Zhejiang, China, sending him sliding rapidly down the rocky slope and crashing into several visitors below.
The incident happened on August 17 at Baiyang Waterfall in Baiyang Village, Guanhaiwei Town, Cixi City, where visitors had gathered to cool off in the summer heat.
Video circulating online showed several people enjoying the water near the bottom of the waterfall when the man suddenly lost his footing. He slid down the steep rock face at high speed, leaving those below with little time to react.
Several visitors were knocked over as the man crashed into them, causing panic and screams at the scene. Witnesses said the man suffered multiple cuts and bleeding injuries, while some of those hit also sustained minor injuries.
The local village committee later confirmed the incident and stressed that the waterfall is not an officially developed tourist attraction. Despite this, the natural site has attracted visitors who enter the area to explore and escape the heat.
Authorities said safety warning signs will be installed at the site and patrols will be strengthened to remind visitors of the potential dangers of entering undeveloped areas.
