‘I Will Take Action’: Syed Saddiq Responds Four Hours After Muar Cemetery Complaint

Date:

A damaged and collapsed wire fence surrounding a cemetery in Parit Jamil, Benteng near Muar has sparked concern among residents after livestock were allegedly able to enter the burial grounds.

The issue came to light after a Threads user, @zattynia, appealed to Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman for help in addressing the condition of the cemetery.

In the post, the user claimed that sections of the wire fence surrounding the cemetery had deteriorated and collapsed, allowing cows to move in and out of the area.

“Many sections have collapsed and are damaged. The cows can even enter and leave, leaving their waste behind,” the user wrote.

The user also uploaded videos and photographs showing the condition of the cemetery, including fallen sections of the wire fence and areas around the graves that appeared overgrown with grass and wild vegetation.

According to the user, an email had previously been sent to the relevant authorities, but no response had been received.

“I have emailed the YB’s official email but received no response. I’m just asking for help to replace this wire fence at the Parit Jamil Benteng cemetery in Muar,” the user said.

Syed Saddiq responded to the post about four hours after it was uploaded, assuring the user that the matter would be looked into.

“Thank you. I will take action,” he replied, while tagging other relevant parties, including @amir_fiqri and @ssparlimenmuar.

The post has since attracted significant attention online, receiving more than 2,800 likes and hundreds of reactions at the time of writing.

The condition of the cemetery has also prompted calls for the damaged fencing and surrounding grounds to be properly maintained to prevent further intrusion by livestock and preserve the dignity of the burial site.
