A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a private higher education institution (IPTS) was charged at the Sessions Court here today with criminal breach of trust involving RM6.56 million.
Noraini Aripin, 55, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Datin M. Kunasundary.
According to the charge, Noraini, who was entrusted with managing RM6,557,720 belonging to the institution, was responsible for ensuring the funds were used to pay ad valorem duties to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
However, she is alleged to have misappropriated the funds by using the money for other purposes, resulting in the ad valorem duty payment to the IRB not being made.
The alleged offence took place between September 2025 and April 2026 at the private higher education institution’s office in Bandar Enstek, Nilai.
Noraini was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code (Act 574) for criminal breach of trust.
If convicted, she faces imprisonment of between two and 20 years, whipping and a fine.
The case will proceed through the court process as the prosecution establishes the circumstances surrounding the alleged misuse of the funds.
