Police have arrested an unemployed 41-year-old man suspected of raping a 14-year-old girl at a house in Sungai Chua, Kajang, in March.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report about the alleged incident last Sunday after the teenager claimed she had been raped by a local man known to her.
“Preliminary investigations found that the incident allegedly took place while the victim was at the house on March 29.
“Investigations subsequently led to the suspect’s arrest in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, on Wednesday,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Naazron said the suspect has been remanded until August 26 to assist with investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which relates to rape.
In a separate development, Naazron said an initial urine screening test conducted on the suspect returned positive for methamphetamine.
“Following this, investigations are also being conducted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
