Police Probe Viral Video Allegedly Showing Man Stepping On Sarawak Flag

Police have launched an investigation into a viral video allegedly showing a man stepping on the Sarawak flag.

Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received two reports today regarding the five-second video.

He said the footage was initially uploaded by a TikTok user before being reshared by several other social media accounts.

“The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both,” he said.

Alexson added that the case is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to one year, or both.

He advised members of the public against engaging in acts that could disrupt public order or provoke public anger.

“Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to assist the investigation by contacting the Kuching District Police Headquarters at 082-244444,” he said.
