“You Hit My Son?” Mother Pins Schoolboy Down In Viral 2-Minute Video After Son Was Hit By Badminton Racquet

Date:

A school-related dispute in Pahang has sparked heated discussion online after a video appeared to show a woman confronting a schoolboy and pinning him to the ground following an alleged altercation involving her son. The roughly two-and-a-half-minute recording quickly spread on social media, drawing attention to the confrontation between the parent and the child.

The incident reportedly took place on Friday (Aug 22) at the hall of Lih Teik National-Type Chinese School in Jerantut, Pahang. Students had gathered at the rented hall after school to play badminton when a disagreement allegedly broke out between two boys.

According to reports by Malaysian media including Sin Chew Daily, the dispute began after the woman’s son allegedly asked another boy to help buy drinks. The boy reportedly refused, leading to an argument in which he claimed he was verbally abused. The disagreement subsequently escalated, with the boy allegedly using a badminton racket to hit the woman’s son.

A video circulating online showed the woman confronting the boy over the incident. Wearing a pink T-shirt and black shorts, she could be seen holding the schoolboy down while questioning him about why he had hit her son.

The woman repeatedly challenged the boy, questioning why he had resorted to violence instead of responding verbally. She also reportedly said she had not given him permission to hit her son, while the boy attempted to explain that her son had allegedly provoked him first.

The boy was heard explaining that he had tried to tolerate the situation after being insulted. However, the woman continued questioning him over the alleged use of the badminton racket, asking whether he would accept it if she struck him in the same way.

The confrontation did not stop there. The woman also turned her attention to several students who were recording the incident on their mobile phones. She reportedly demanded that the footage be deleted and questioned whether they intended to upload it online. One student explained that they were merely recording what was happening, but the woman allegedly continued insisting that the recording be removed.

Despite the intense exchange captured in the video, the situation was later brought to the attention of police. According to reports, Balok district police launched an initial investigation after receiving information about the incident.

Both sets of parents subsequently gave statements to police before deciding to withdraw their reports. The families reportedly acknowledged their respective mistakes and agreed not to escalate the matter further. Police have also urged members of the public not to continue circulating the video.

Meanwhile, the school’s principal reportedly said he was informed about the incident on Friday evening, after which police began their investigation. The Education Department director also reportedly visited the school and met with teachers, the parents involved and the students.

The incident has since fuelled debate online over how parents should respond when their children become involved in school disputes. While parents naturally want to protect their children, the episode has also raised questions about whether conflicts involving pupils should instead be handled through the school and relevant authorities rather than escalating between adults and children.
