RM1.99 RON95 Is Coming – But Only If Your MyKad Works

Date:

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged Malaysians to immediately check and replace damaged MyKad chips to ensure they can benefit from the government’s targeted RON95 petrol subsidy, scheduled to begin at the end of this month.

He said the subsidy mechanism will require identity verification via MyKad at petrol stations during refuelling.

“Under this targeted subsidy, the price of RON95 petrol will drop to RM1.99 per litre. One crucial thing Malaysians must do is check your MyKad and make sure the chip works properly.

“If the chip is damaged or unreadable, don’t worry — you can go to any National Registration Department (JPN) office or counter nationwide. Insya-Allah, it will be done the same day. Don’t wait until the last minute; do an early check so everyone can benefit from this special petrol subsidy for Malaysians,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Saifuddin said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.

“Although it took some time, Alhamdulillah, he still fulfilled his promise because, Insya-Allah, he is a man of his word. Every promise made will be implemented for Malaysians.

“The MADANI government remains committed to helping the people, safeguarding the welfare of all groups and strengthening the national economy with integrity and responsibility,” he added.

Previously, Anwar reiterated his assurance that the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced to RM1.99 per litre by the end of this month, fulfilling the MADANI government’s pledge to ease the public’s financial burden.

He said the measure is consistent with the government’s commitment to ensuring Malaysians enjoy lower fuel prices compared to actual market rates.
