Date:

A local man was killed after being hit by a forklift driven by his co-worker at a factory here on Thursday.

Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said they received a MERS 999 call at 4.04pm about a fatal accident involving a forklift and a worker at the factory.

According to him, initial investigations showed the accident occurred at about 3.14pm when the forklift, driven by a local man, was moving along lanes C1 and C2 of the warehouse inside the factory.

“At that time, the victim was conducting a stock inspection of containers and had moved to the middle of the lane.

“Simultaneously, the forklift continued moving forward and struck the victim who was walking in the lane,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the impact threw the victim, believed to be in his 20s, causing chest injuries, while the forklift driver, aged in his 30s, was unharmed.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an Assistant Medical Officer from Banting Hospital.

“The forklift driver, an independent witness who saw the accident, and the victim’s next of kin have provided statements to the Kuala Langat Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Members of the public with information on the incident may contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Inspector Nor Baiti Mustafa, at 03-3187 2222 or 014-500 6072.
