A 27-year-old woman was found dead in a condominium in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling yesterday.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, said police received a call at about 11.35am from the unit’s owner, who had been unable to contact his tenant.
He said the owner was later informed by the Endah Puri Condominium management of a foul smell coming from one of the units.
“A police patrol team was dispatched to the location along with the owner and a locksmith. When the door was forcibly opened, police found the tenant’s body hanging in the bathroom,” he said when contacted today.
He added that the body was already decomposing with a strong odour and visible skin changes.
“Initial checks found the unit locked from the inside and the woman’s personal belongings, including her mobile phone and handbag, were still in place.
“She had been living alone since early this year and is believed to have run an online clothing business,” he said, adding that the owner last spoke to the woman on 4 September regarding overdue rent.
Forensic officers from the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters and a medical officer from Kuala Lumpur Hospital were present at the scene and confirmed the victim’s death at about 1.45pm yesterday.
“Police will record further statements from the victim’s family members,” he said.
The case has been classified as a sudden death (SDR), with a post-mortem scheduled at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HUKM) today to determine the cause of death.
