A 21-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her boyfriend before her body was concealed inside a sack at a rented residence in Hyderabad, India.
The victim, identified as Rehana, was from Bihar and worked at an event hall. Police said she had been in a relationship with 21-year-old Ahmad Salam, who was also from Bihar, for about a year.
Investigators suspect the alleged killing followed repeated arguments between the couple over their relationship, including claims that Rehana was close to another man.
Police also alleged that Rehana had been pressuring Salam to marry her, which may have contributed to growing tensions between the pair.
The argument is believed to have turned violent before Salam allegedly attacked Rehana with a knife, resulting in her death.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly placed her body inside a sack in an attempt to conceal it before fleeing the residence.
The case came to light after police received a call through the Dial 100 emergency line at about 5am on August 17. A sub-inspector was sent to the location, where officers discovered a woman’s body wrapped inside a sack in a bedroom.
ACP Adibatla Pradeep Kumar Reddy said an initial examination indicated that the woman had suffered bleeding and was suspected to have been murdered.
“At around 5am, we received a call through Dial 100. A sub-inspector reached the location and found a woman wrapped inside a sack and bleeding,” he said.
Police subsequently contacted Rehana’s family and gathered information about her relationship with the suspect, helping investigators establish a possible connection between the two.
Reddy said Salam worked as a labourer at an event venue and remains at large.
“The suspect Ahmad Salam is 21 years old and works as a labourer at an event hall. He and Rehana had been in a relationship for around a year. The victim had reportedly been pressuring him to marry her before he allegedly stabbed her with a knife,” he said.
Authorities are also investigating whether anyone else may have been involved in the alleged killing.
Rehana’s body was taken to the mortuary at Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A murder case has been registered, while police continue efforts to locate and arrest Salam.
Investigators are also working to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the motive before further legal action is taken.
