Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the price of RON95 petrol will be reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre starting September 30.
Anwar, who also serves as finance minister, said the move is expected to benefit around 18 million Malaysian car and motorcycle users nationwide.
Under the new pricing, only Malaysians holding MyKad will be eligible for the subsidised rate, while foreigners will have to pay the full unsubsidised price.
The government has maintained the price of RON95 petrol at RM2.05 per litre since February 2021.
