UiTM Student, Lorry Driver Killed In Head-On Motorcycle Crash In Jasin

Date:

A Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Lendu student and a lorry driver were killed after the motorcycles they were riding collided head-on along Jalan Gapam near Petronas Bemban on Thursday night.

The victims were identified as 21-year-old Muhammad Thoriq Thani Ahmad Azam and 41-year-old Md Samsul Mat Halif. Both were pronounced dead at the scene following the 11.30pm crash.

Jasin police chief Superintendent Lee Robert said Thoriq was riding a Yamaha Lagenda 110Z from Bemban towards Ayer Keroh, while Md Samsul was travelling in the opposite direction on a Honda Dash 125.

He said preliminary investigations found that Md Samsul was believed to have been overtaking another vehicle when his motorcycle entered the opposite lane.

“The motorcycle ridden by Md Samsul entered the opposite lane before colliding with Muhammad Thoriq’s motorcycle, which was travelling straight in its lane,” he said.

Both victims suffered severe head and body injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies were later taken to the Forensic Department of Jasin Hospital for post-mortem examinations after being identified by their next of kin.
