A 36-year-old foreign masseuse died after falling from the fourth floor of a shoplot in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Masai, while allegedly attempting to flee an enforcement inspection on Thursday.
Johor Bahru Selatan deputy police chief Superintendent Ng Swie Chait said police received a report about the incident at 3.48pm.
Preliminary investigations found that the woman allegedly fell from the fourth floor while trying to escape during an inspection by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) at the premises where she worked.
“The victim was found lying face down behind the shoplot with bleeding to the head,” he said in a statement today.
The woman’s body was taken to the forensic department at Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Ng said the examination found that she died from a fractured skull and multiple broken ribs.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident from various angles, and the classification of the case could be revised if the post-mortem report or any new evidence warrants it.
The case is currently classified as sudden death.
Ng also urged the public to refrain from making or spreading speculation while investigations are ongoing.
