Food Delivery Rider Killed After Motorcycle Loses Control, Crashes Into Roadside Tree

A 24-year-old food delivery rider died after the motorcycle he was riding skidded and crashed into a tree along the Alor Gajah–Melaka Tengah–Jasin (AMJ) Highway in Semabok early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at about 2.30am, with the victim, Muhammad Hakimin A. Samah, suffering severe injuries to his head, body and legs. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Halim Abas said preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling from Kandang towards Bandar Melaka when the accident occurred.

“Upon reaching the location, the motorcycle is believed to have lost control before crashing into a tree on the road divider and then falling onto the divider. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer,” he said.

Halim said police found signs of impact on the tree and damage caused by the collision on the road divider.

He added that there were no members of the public at the scene who witnessed the crash, while dashcam footage had been obtained so far.

A post-mortem will be conducted at the Melaka Hospital Forensic Department to determine the cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
