MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has called on police to take stern action against a group of higher education students involved in a violent “prank” on another student.
He stressed that excessive joking that causes harm is still bullying and must never be tolerated or dismissed as mere fun.
“Do we want to wait until there’s permanent injury or death before acting? I hope the police act decisively and charge all involved so it becomes an important lesson for everyone,” he wrote on Facebook.
A video shared by Asyraf shows five students holding a victim’s arms and legs before swinging his body, causing his groin area to hit a signpost.
The video is believed to be linked to a bullying incident at the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) in Miri. More shockingly, several other students nearby were seen laughing and recording instead of stopping the act.
Yesterday, the Youth and Sports Ministry reportedly said it would not hesitate to take stern action against those involved, including suspending or expelling the students.
