Four members of the same family are among six people feared missing after they went hiking at Mount Trans Gerah in the Lojing Permanent Forest Reserve several days ago.
The missing group comprises a husband and wife, their two children and two mountain guides.
According to a source, the group began their hike on Aug 29 and was expected to descend at Pos Kemar in Perak on Thursday.
However, they have since failed to make contact with their families, prompting a police report to be lodged at the Gua Musang district police headquarters.
“Their family members last managed to contact one of the hikers on the morning of Sept 1. They were told that the group was safe and in good health.
“However, contact was lost after that, and a police report was eventually lodged out of concern for their safety,” the source said.
Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo confirmed receiving the missing persons report and said police were now liaising with agencies including the Forestry Department.
“It is highly likely that the group has already crossed the Kelantan border and proceeded towards Pos Kemar,” he said.
