Man Dies After Collapsing While Riding Motorcycle In Tampin

Date:

A 65-year-old man died after he collapsed while riding a motorcycle along Jalan Tampin-Gemas near Pekan Tampin on Tuesday afternoon.

Tampin district police chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said the incident occurred at about 2.30pm and preliminary investigations found that the local man was believed to have been riding against the flow of traffic.

He said the victim was travelling from Kampung Baru towards Pekan Tampin when he allegedly rode a Honda C70 along the road shoulder on the opposite side of the road.

“When he reached the location, the victim is believed to have collapsed and fallen onto the road shoulder before he was found unconscious,” Amiruddien said in a statement.

The man was taken to Tampin Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at about 3.45pm.

His body was subsequently taken to the hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact the Tampin district traffic police station at 06-441 2502 or investigating officer Inspector Imanul Hassan.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
