Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain And Strong Winds Expected In Several States

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit several states across Malaysia until 1pm today (Sept 11), according to a weather warning.

The warning covers Perlis, as well as several districts in Kedah, including Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Pendang, Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim, Bandar Baharu and Langkawi.

Penang is also affected, along with parts of Selangor, namely Kuala Langat, Sepang and Klang.

In Johor, the areas covered are Pontian, Johor Bahru and Kulai.

The warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour that is either imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts and are valid for no more than six hours for each issuance.
