A man in his 20s had his alleged plan to hire a foreign prostitute cut short after he was detained by enforcement officers from the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAINJ) during a raid on Friday.
The man had reportedly already paid RM200 for the alleged service when officers raided a four-storey shoplot at about 3.05pm.
According to JAINJ, officers found two rooms separated by curtains during the operation. In the first room, a man wearing only a towel was found with a woman who was sitting cross-legged and dressed in a sarong.
The man, who was reportedly single and from a northern state, works in Kluang, while the foreign woman was also unmarried.
JAINJ officers then proceeded to the second room, where they found another woman in her 30s lying on a bed wearing a T-shirt and skirt. She was a local and non-Muslim.
During the inspection, two foreign men allegedly arrived at the premises intending to hire prostitutes but fled after seeing the enforcement officers.
Further checks of both rooms uncovered several unused condoms, while used condoms and tissues were found in a rubbish bin.
The couples were subsequently detained for further action over alleged khalwat, preparation or attempted extramarital sexual intercourse, and offences related to prostitution, JAINJ said.
