A man from a village in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, shocked locals when he bit the head off a cobra after being attacked by the venomous snake.
The incident took place on Thursday night in Chiyyavaram village, Thottambedu Mandal. The victim, identified as Venkatesh, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol while walking home when the cobra struck.
In a drunken rage, Venkatesh grabbed the snake and bit its head off, killing it instantly. He then took the reptile’s body home and, in a bizarre twist, went to sleep next to it.
Around midnight, however, his health began to deteriorate as the venom spread through his body. Alarmed, his family rushed him to Srikalahasti Area Hospital for emergency treatment.
Due to his worsening condition, Venkatesh was later transferred to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati on Friday morning for further care, where doctors said he remains under close observation.
Villagers described the incident as “unbelievable” and “terrifying,” while local authorities have urged the public not to take matters into their own hands when dealing with venomous animals.
