A 26-year-old woman suffered facial injuries after allegedly being splashed with acid by her mother-in-law at their home in the Gorwa area on Sept 10.
The victim was rushed to SSG Hospital for further treatment following the incident.
Gorwa police have opened an investigation involving the victim’s mother-in-law, husband, father-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
According to the victim’s police report, she had married a man from Vadodara in 2021 and lived with his family in a residential area along Panchvati Sahyog Road.
She alleged that she had frequently argued with her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and two brothers-in-law since their marriage, and claimed that she had also faced harassment from the family.
The woman further alleged that her mother-in-law had assaulted her in the past, while her two brothers-in-law allegedly frequently influenced her husband against her.
She also claimed that the family had questioned her loyalty towards her husband.
According to the report, on the afternoon of Sept 10, the woman’s mother-in-law allegedly instructed her to clean the bathroom using acid.
However, the woman refused, claiming that she was allergic to the substance.
