‘Don’t Make Baseless Claims’: Mohamad Sabu Issues Legal Notice Linking Him To Kedah Fertiliser Issue

Date:

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has issued a letter of demand to a Facebook account owner over claims linking him to a fertiliser supply issue in Kedah.

Mohamad said similar legal notices had also been sent to the owners of several other social media accounts allegedly found to have made baseless accusations and malicious allegations against him.

He acknowledged that social media provided a platform for people to voice their opinions, but stressed that users must also take responsibility for what they post.

Mohamad said there was nothing wrong with expressing views or raising questions, but this did not give anyone the right to make accusations without evidence.

“I have instructed my lawyers to send letters of demand to the owner of the account, as well as the owners of other accounts identified as having done the same.

“There is no problem with speaking out. But when it goes as far as making accusations without evidence and malicious allegations, that is a different matter,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In the same post, Mohamad shared a screenshot of the post in question, which raised questions about an investigation into the fertiliser supply issue in Kedah.

The user also linked Mohamad and the Finance Ministry to the matter.
