Private Jet Crashes During Landing, Pilots Allegedly Drunk

Date:

Two pilots have been arrested after allegedly being under the influence of alcohol while attempting to land a private jet that crashed off the runway and caught fire at an airport in Libya, according to The Sun UK.

The incident reportedly occurred recently at Misrata International Airport, involving a 2026-built Cessna Citation Latitude.

The private jet was carrying three people, including the two pilots and a crew member, and was reportedly travelling from Istanbul, Türkiye.

Images shared on social media showed emergency responders working to extinguish the fire at the wreckage of the aircraft.

No injuries were reported in the incident. However, prosecutors alleged that both pilots were under the influence of alcohol when the landing went wrong.

The pilots were also accused of violating aviation and public safety regulations.

However, BKNJET Aviation Co., the Türkiye-based operator of the jet, denied the allegations.

“No official decision or valid document containing any findings regarding alcohol has been received by us,” the company said.
