The H1 vehicle registration number has attracted a staggering bid of RM10.7 million under the special H-series registration introduced by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Bidding for registration numbers H1 to H9999 was conducted through the JPJeBid system from Sept 16 to 20, with the results announced on Sept 21.
The RM10.7 million bid for H1 has since caught the attention of social media users, with many expressing surprise at the amount offered for the registration number.
The H series was introduced in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations and is the final special vehicle registration series featuring a single letter to be offered by JPJ.
The letter H was selected as a symbol of “harmony”, in line with the theme of unity and harmony associated with Malaysia Day.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli was previously reported as saying that the letter was chosen because it is synonymous with the word “harmoni”, symbolising harmony among society and the nation.
According to Aedy Fadly, JPJ will no longer offer special vehicle registration numbers using a single letter after the H series.
