Three men have been arrested after a video showing them allegedly urinating by the roadside along the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) highway in Johor went viral on social media.
Johor Bahru Selatan deputy police chief Superintendent Ng Swie Chait said the suspects, aged between 28 and 36, were arrested at a restaurant in Taman Maju Jaya at around 9.30pm on Sunday.
Police received a report at 6.11pm after the 16-second video was detected on social media. The video had reportedly been uploaded to Facebook at around 2am on the same day.
“Police seized a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) believed to be linked to the case. One of the suspects also has a previous criminal record,” Ng said in a statement today.
The viral footage showed the three men allegedly urinating by the roadside, with the MPV parked beside them.
Police said all three suspects tested negative for drugs.
Ng said the investigation papers would be completed before being referred to the state Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code for committing an act of gross indecency, which carries a jail term of up to two years upon conviction.
