Police have arrested three foreign male students from a private higher learning institution over the death of a 53-year-old local man in Kampung Kuchai.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the suspects, aged between 17 and 20, were arrested at their apartment unit yesterday.
He said members of the public had earlier found the victim unconscious in an open area with injuries to his face.
“The victim was rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for treatment but was pronounced dead at 6.42pm on Sept 22,” he said in a statement today.
A post-mortem found that the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head, Muhammad Najib said.
Following investigations, police arrested the three suspects to assist with investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which relates to murder.
Muhammad Najib said police were still investigating the motive behind the attack, as well as the relationship between the victim and the three suspects.
“Anyone with information about the incident is urged to assist the investigation by contacting the Ipoh District Police Headquarters at 05-2451500 or any nearby police station,” he said.
