The appointments of 10 Negeri Sembilan state executive councillors (Exco) have officially been revoked, according to a state gazette dated Sept 24.
The gazette stated that the revocations took effect on Sept 20 following the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, under Article 38(5) of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
According to the gazette, all 10 Exco members had taken and signed their oaths and pledges of allegiance before Tuanku Muhriz on Aug 7, 2026, before assuming their positions.
It stated that the appointments were revoked after the 10 Exco members were deemed to have breached their pledges of allegiance.
“Considering that you have breached the said pledge of allegiance, I hereby withdraw my consent and revoke your appointments as members of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council,” the gazette stated.
The 10 former Exco members are Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor, Siow Kong Choon, Siti Nur Umaira Hasim, Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali, Suhaimizan Bizar, Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa and Datuk Razali Abu Samah.
Under Article 38(5) of the state constitution, an Exco member other than the Menteri Besar holds office for as long as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar gives consent.
The revocation follows a dispute involving the Negeri Sembilan royal institution and the state administration. The legal interpretation of Article 38(5) and the circumstances surrounding the revocation have also been disputed by lawyers representing parties involved in the wider dispute.
