A man in his 40s has been arrested after allegedly stripping naked and roaming the streets while attempting to hug strangers in a city centre in Gloucestershire.
Police were called to Clarence Street at around 5am on October 5 after reports of a man behaving “erratically” and running through the street naked.
According to police, the man briefly put on a pair of jeans before removing them again and continuing to walk around without clothes.
He also allegedly approached members of the public and attempted to touch and hug them.
At one point, the man reportedly walked into the road in front of traffic before stopping near a bus stop close to the King’s Walk shopping centre.
Police believe the man may have been under the influence of drugs. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of exposure.
The man has since been released on bail with conditions while investigations continue. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area as part of their probe.
Officers are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who saw the incident or was approached by the man, to come forward with information.
