A seven-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of eight stray dogs while playing at a playground near the Lima Kedai flats in Johor on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 3pm, leaving the boy with injuries to his eyes, neck, head and body.
He was rushed to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Bahru for treatment.
Kota Iskandar assemblyman Pandak Ahmad described the incident as alarming, saying urgent action was needed from the authorities to ensure the safety of residents.
He stressed that effective measures must be taken to address the problem of stray dogs, which could threaten public safety, particularly that of children using public facilities in residential areas.
Pandak, who visited the injured boy, urged the relevant authorities to take immediate and appropriate action to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
The latest attack has renewed public concern over the threat posed by stray dogs, following another incident on September 5 in which a two-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked by five stray dogs in Kampung Tambak, Batu Pahat.
The incident occurred at around 7am, when Nur Haira Wafiqah Muhammad Hamizi was attacked by the dogs outside her home, suffering severe injuries across much of her body.
She was initially taken to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail in Batu Pahat for treatment before being transferred to HSA for further specialist surgery.
