The body of a man was found covered with a white cloth inside a drain behind an eatery at Sama Gagah Public Market in Permatang Pauh, Penang, this morning.
The victim, described as thin and believed to be in his 50s, was discovered by a member of the public at around 7am.
A nearby business owner, who identified himself only as Mie, said he became aware of the incident at around 8am while preparing to open his premises.
“The market area became chaotic as people gathered to look at the body, which had been stuffed into a small drain,” he told Kosmo!.
He said the body was found directly behind a shop selling apam balik and tobacco.
“Looking at the size of the drain, it makes no sense because it is far too small,” he said, referring to the suspected act of placing the body there.
Police were at the scene and had begun cordoning off the area to facilitate investigations.
