A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed after allegedly losing control of his motorcycle, falling onto the road and being hit by a lorry along the Cheras-Kajang Highway on Monday.
The accident occurred at about 6pm at Kilometre 13.1 of the highway, as the victim was travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Kajang.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said preliminary investigations indicated that the motorcyclist had lost control of his motorcycle before falling onto the road.
“A lorry travelling straight along the same lane was unable to avoid the victim and ran over him,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
The local motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision.
Naazron said no police report had been lodged by the lorry driver so far.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which concerns causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the accident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
Road users who have dashcam footage or video recordings of the incident, particularly those who travelled through the area around the time of the crash, are asked to contact investigating officer Inspector Nur Faezah Mohd Zakria at 012-326 8496.
