Apple Music Ditches Iconic Red Logo For Black-And-White Look In iOS 27.2 Beta

Date:

Apple Music could be getting a visual makeover, with its familiar red app icon reportedly replaced by a black-and-white version in the latest iOS 27.2 beta.

According to 9to5Mac, the redesigned icon features a black musical note against a white background in light mode, with the colours reversed in dark mode. The musical note also appears to have a slightly sharper angle than the original design.

The changes reportedly extend beyond the app icon. Apple Music widgets now feature black backgrounds, while a blue highlight in the tab bar indicates the currently selected section.

The redesign could be part of a broader refresh of Apple Music’s branding. Last month, a new logo was spotted on the Apple Music Hall website, prompting speculation that Apple was exploring a new visual identity for its music streaming service.

Images shared by an X user also showed the redesigned icon in different appearance settings, including a tinted version.

If the monochrome design makes it into a public iOS release, users may still be able to customise its appearance through the tinted Home Screen icon option, potentially bringing back a look closer to the familiar red design.

However, the reported changes are currently associated with the beta version of iOS 27.2, and it remains unclear whether Apple will retain the redesign in the final public release.
