Zelenskiy Says He Feels ‘Betrayed’ As Trump Takes Russia’s Side In Ukraine War

Date:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has admitted feeling betrayed by US President Donald Trump, saying it is “painful” when Washington appears to side with Russia in the ongoing war.

In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on Wednesday, Zelenskiy said: “It’s painful when President Trump chooses one side, not our side.”

He said he was willing to accept Trump acting as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia, but stressed that the US president needed to remain neutral.

“If you are in the middle, you have to stay in the middle,” Zelenskiy said.

Asked whether he felt betrayed by Trump, who had called for Ukraine to get a new president over the weekend, Zelenskiy replied: “Really, yes … but it’s a little bit more complicated than just my emotions or my feelings.”

He added: “It’s a pity we are losing (a) strong partner.”

Trump’s comments came after the US agreed to lift sanctions on Russian diesel exports, prompting further concerns over Washington’s approach to the conflict.

Despite his disappointment, Zelenskiy insisted that Ukraine’s struggle was not a business deal but a matter of national survival.

“We are not selling our country … it’s not about business for us, it’s just our life and this is our country,” he said.
