Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will chair a special meeting on Monday to discuss several issues, including the haze currently affecting Malaysia and its impact on daily activities.
Government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the High-Level Committee (HLC) meeting on National Disaster Management would focus, among other matters, on improving coordination between ministries in managing the effects of the haze.
Discussions will include outdoor sporting activities, school operations and activities at other educational institutions.
Fahmi said the Education Ministry and Health Ministry had informed the Cabinet that existing measures to deal with the haze were guided by the National Haze Action Plan, which remains in force.
“The prime minister will chair a meeting on Monday, and the haze issue will be among the matters discussed,” he said.
Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet press conference on Friday, Fahmi said further updates would be provided after the meeting.
He added that the Health Ministry, Education Ministry and Youth and Sports Ministry would also provide information on the outcome of the discussions.
