Lorry Carrying Fresh Chicken Overturns After Tyre Blowout On North-South Expressway

Date:

A lorry carrying fresh chicken overturned after a suspected tyre blowout caused the driver to lose control before a car crashed into it along the North-South Expressway on Saturday.

The accident occurred at about noon at Kilometre 421 of the northbound expressway. Both drivers, who are in their 20s and 40s, escaped without injuries.

Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent M Manimaran said preliminary investigations found that the lorry was travelling from Rawang towards Felda Gedangsa when its rear left tyre was believed to have burst.

“This caused the lorry to lose control before overturning across the left side of the road.

“A car travelling behind it was unable to avoid the lorry and crashed into its underside,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

Footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing fresh chicken from the overturned lorry scattered across the expressway.

Manimaran said the load was thrown onto the road, including the emergency lane and the left lane.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Members of the public with information about the accident are urged to assist investigations by contacting traffic investigating officer Inspector Mohammadi bin MT Abu @ Ramli at 03-6064 1222 or visiting the nearest police station.
