Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated national para powerlifting star Bonnie Bunyau Gustin after he secured Malaysia’s second gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.
“Congratulations to Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, who continues to bring pride to the nation by winning gold in the men’s para powerlifting 72kg category at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.

“May you continue to achieve success and bring honour to Malaysia!” Anwar said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Bonnie clinched Malaysia’s second gold medal after topping the men’s 72kg category at the Nagoya City Trade and Industry Centre.
The Sarawak-born athlete also successfully defended the gold medal he won at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.
The victory also helped Bonnie bounce back from disappointment at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last July, where he failed to defend his title and settled for bronze in the men’s lightweight category.
